Book Your Divorce Mediation

When booking your divorce mediation through New Leaf Mediation, we go above and beyond to make your divorce as easy and equitable as possible.  Here's what you can expect...

  • We'll send you a detailed explanation of what to expect during the mediation process.

  • We'll send you a document that helps you define what assets and liabilities are (or are not) marital in the State of New York.

  • We'll need from you a list of detailed financial information (documents are best) that we'll use to create a Marital Balance Sheet (a detailed description of all marital assets and liabilities) to help fairly and equitably move forward.

  • We'll send you an issue checklist to help you prepare for the mediation.  Yup, it's your homework.  Doing the homework significantly decreases the time and friction involved during the mediation.

  • We'll send you the completed Marital Balance Sheet for both parties to review before the mediation starts - it's imperative that all interested parties agree that the Marital Balance Sheet is factually correct and that there are no other marital assets or liabilities outstanding.

  • We'll send you, prior to mediation day, a set of rules for the mediation that all parties must sign and return prior to the mediation moving forward.

  • On mediation day, it would be preferable for all parties to join via PC rather than mobile phone.

  • If you don't have the Zoom app installed, hit <cancel> when it requests for you to download the app and you'll join via your web browser instead.

  • During the mediation:

    • We'll all meet together to explain the ground rules and to make sure we have a common understanding.

    • Each party will then enter to into a separate breakout room, and our mediator will speak with each party individually.  We'll be going back and forth between the rooms, gathering information and honing in on a resolution of each issue.

  • If the parties are able to come to an agreement, both parties will sign the completed Mediated Settlement Agreement, which will then be provided to both parties.

  • We'll send you the steps and forms necessary for you to complete a D.I.Y. divorce in the State of New York.

Our goal is simple - to impartially help you come to a fair and equitable agreement.
